Okojie Daniel Collins, born (29 . 12 . 1997) at Ilorin – Kwara State in Nigeria, is an indigenous Rapper, Afro-Pop singer and a prolific songwriter popularly known by his pseudonym “Decoo Jay”. He came into limelight in 2019, after releasing the single he titled “Normal Life” featuring legendary musicians such as Erigga and Magnito, the song garnered positive reviews and rotational airplay from MTV Base, Cool Fm, Phoenix Fm to become a street anthem. In 2020, he received a prestigious exclusive Obaland Awards for Best indigenous Rapper of the Year, hosted by Obaland Magazine. In 2022, he won GoHome music challenge, hosted by Chocolate City Music.

Early Life & Educational background:

Okojie Daniel Collins, popularly known as Decco Jay was born on (29 . 12 . 1997) at Illorin – Kwara State in Nigeria to Edo, is the second of five siblings,  He attended Saint Joseph Nursery and Primary school from 2003-2008, then proceeded to Oyun Baptist high school in 2008-2014, to finally gained admission into Ambrose Alli university where he studied Theatre & Media Arts from 2016-2021, and Holds a B.A degree.

Music career & Discography:

He released his debut anticipated single on the 16th of December 2019 titled “Normal Life” featuring Nigeria’s mainstream legendary musicians such as Erigga and Magnito, the song garnered rotational airplay on international and national radios such as Cool fm, Eko fm. Splash fm followed by international radio stations such as Phoenix fm where “Normal Life” bagged second position on Top 100 singles of the month.His song, Normalife was used by Guiness Brewery as the advertisement soundtrack in Ireland for over eight months jingle.

On May 16th 2021, The Guardian Newspaper published an article, unveiling that Decoo Jay has released a debut EP, titled “MMM: Me, Myself & Music – EP” , although his anticipated street anthem “Normal Life” catapulted this EP to success. Following the critically acceppted EP, Decco went on releasing a series of hit singles. In May 2023, he released his second EP, titled “ Feast of Nothing – EP” which wasn’t as well received nationally compared to his debut EP. Decoo has released over 30 hit singles and two EPs so well, with over 63million streams all over digital platforms and 106 million downloads. His song “Normal Life” peaked at #1 position in Gambia Apple music chart for six weeks. As seen in so many interviews on news outlets, Decoo Jay cited artists such as Eminem, 2Face Idibia, Erigga, Magnito and Fela Kuti as his influences in music.

Decoo Jay had toured states and cities in West Africa countries to perform his EP ““MMM: Me, Myself & Music – EP”

Awards & Nomination:

In 2019, he won Obaland Awards for Best indigenous Rapper of the Year, hosted by Obaland Magazine  and other 20 music competitions, including GoHome music challenge, hosted by Chocolate City Music.

Personal life:

Decoo Jay claimed he is still single as of 2023 “I am married to music” he said , during an interview with JMBTV cotonou.
